The 1795 Flowing Hair silver dollars are known by their two varieties: the two leaf and three leaf types, referring to the leaves below the eagle’s wings. The 1795 Flowing Hair dollar offered in our June 2021 Costa Mesa auction is of the two leaf variety, which is much rarer than the three leaf. Mint State coins are hard to find of either variety, however. This NGC AU-58 is a strong example of the 1795 silver dollar and is sure to attract interest as it crosses the auction block in June.
Coins in Motion seeks to enable collectors, bidders, and consignors to accurately appreciate how Stack’s Bowers Galleries coins look in hand. Ultra-high resolution animations depict how luster moves over the coin’s surfaces, while the rotating motion allows for any possible imperfections to be revealed.
