Ponterio and Associates Sold the Wa She Wong Collection for $7,917,184

On December 3, 2010, Ponterio and Associates (now part of Stack’s Bowers Galleries) offered the major auction of the Wa She Wong Collection of Chinese and Asian Coins. The sale realized $7,917,184 with 478 total lots. Some of the highlights of the sale are shown here:​

  1. Lot 220 — EXTREMELY RARE, Complete Kwangtung "Seven Two Reversed Pattern" Set, Includes: 7 Mace 2 Candareens (Dollar); 3 Mace 6 Candareens (50 Cents); 1 Mace 4.4 Candareens (20 Cents); 7.2 Candareens (10 Cents); and 3.6 Candareens (5 Cents).5 pieces in lot. — Sold for $718,750
  2. Lot 219 — EXTREMELY RARE Complete Birmingham Mint "Seven Three Reversed Pattern" Set, Includes: 7 Mace 3 Candareens (Dollar), 3 Mace 6 1/2 Candareens (50 Cents), 1 Mace 4 3/5 Candareens (20 Cents), 7 3/10 Candareens (10 Cents) and 3.65 Candareens (5 Cents). — Sold for $546,250
  3. Lot 311 — EXTREMELY RARE "Flying Dragon" Szechuan 30 Cash Struck in Copper — Sold for $460,000
  4. Lot 27 — Large Character "Long-Wisker" Dragon Pattern Dollar Ex: Kann Collection & Chang Plate Coin — Sold for $431,250
  5. Lot 162 — Exceptional Heaton Mint Plain Edge Proof Dollar — Sold for $373,750
