Choice Mint State 1928-S Half Dollar in Our Upcoming iAuction Sale #3529

We are pleased to offer a lustrous smoky golden-gray example of the 1928-S half dollar, only half dollar issue of the year struck – the presses at Philadelphia and Denver struck no half dollars in that year. Usually available in well-worn circulated grades or the low end of the Mint State scale, the 1928-S takes on semi-key status at MS-63 or finer in all the current pricing guides. The lovely “or finer” example in our upcoming sale, graded MS-64 by NGC, is nicely struck for the date, not fully as the date is seldom seen sharp, but with enough details to satisfy any specialist. Even a date run of half dollars, 1916 to 1947 (without regard to issuing mint) requires the 1928-S for completion. We have never had difficulty matching a MS-64 1928-S half dollar with a collector in the past, and we imagine this time around will produce the same results. If you mean to take this specimen home, you’ll need to be on your toes when the bidding begins.
